Que pasa ca la vasa???
Holaaaaaaa
Guess what? Something really cool happened this week! It was:
Fecha bautismal!!!
We got a friend on bap-date! Her name's Kaleesy and she is a member of a family that's been inactive for YEARS. But it's been really awesome seeing how preparing for her baptism has completely reactivated this family! Yesterday was the first day that the ENTIRE Salas family was at church in 3 years! So many people were excited to see them! And the oldest son got ordained a priest so he can baptize his sister!
Drogado (high)
In other less spiritual yet somewhat entertaining news, we had a lesson with someone who was SUPER HIGH. We video-called him, and it was already clear that he was puffing smoke of somekind. Then he shamelessly held up this thing (I dunno drug words) and said it was a vape. Hermana Schaffer whispered over in English, "That's not a vape, that's weed."
Anyways, we told him to put it away. Then I started teaching plan of Salvation, and while I was explaining the creation, I heard small giggles from my companions. I looked at our friend, and his eyes were just bloodshot and wide open all crazy-like. It caught me so off-guard, and I tried to keep going, (I really did) but I just burst out laughing, and so did my companions. Suffice it to say, that lesson went short.
Eso es en la biblia? (Is that in the Bible?)
Being in Kentucky and also teaching a lot of Catholic latinos, I interact with a lot of Bible lovers. So a lot of times when we teach or bring up what is seen as more "Mormon" doctrine, people will often say, "Is that in the Bible?" Or "Mmmm... that's not in the Bible."
Well I'm here to tell y'all that it is in the Bible!
Let's take a gander:
Many think that the 3 Kingdoms of Glory aren't in there, but here's 1 Corinthians 15:40-41:
"There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory."
Here's also Baptism for the dead:
"Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?"(1 Corinthians 15:29)
For context, Paul is explaining the importance of ressurection and asks the Christians what the point of Baptisms for the dead would be if there was no ressurection; thus implying that they did do bfd normally and it was important.
Christ visiting and preaching to the spirit world after his ressurection:
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;"(1Peter 3:18-19)
Also:
"For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit"(1 peter 4:6).
There's many more I could go over, but this is just what I found this week that I wanted to share with you guys.
I know that The Book of Mormon does not contradict the teachings of the Bible. Instead, it expands on what is already there and enlightens our understanding of Jesus Christ's true and everlasting Gospel. I know that through the Bible and the Book of Mormon, we may know the truth of all things.
I hope y'all had a great week! If you made it this far, tell me what your favorite part of spring is!
Jesus te ama!
Hermana Perkins
