"And I love you, random citizen"
Hola hola!
Sorry I missed last week. It won't happen again... probably.
Elder Caussé
Last Saturday we had a mission tour from none other than our brand new apostle... ELDER CAUSSÉ!!! Woot woot!
For the past month, since we got the news, everyone had been absolutely freaking out about this. I mean, he's one of the 12! But as the mission tour commenced, we quickly found out something even better about this man- he's just a normal wholesome dude!
When he started his talk, he literally just whipped out a bunch of wholesome jokes, and you could immediately see the absolute joy this man had in his life! Also, since us Hermanas were in the front row, he said, "Hola! Buenos tardes!" And spoke a little in spanish, which was an awesome surprise! Bro's trilingual, I guess.
You could also see how excited he was when he said, "This is my first mission tour!" *looks around* "Wow! This is awesome! I hope I don't say anything dumb!"
He, in fact, did not say anything dumb. Quite the opposite.
Enseñanzas
Elder Caussé spoke of many awesome things, but the one I want to bring up in this email is about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
He said, "Your mission is the perfect environment to recieve the full blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ."
He then went on to draw this on a whiteboard:
This is the line of repentance. He basically said, "Yes, repentance is for sinners, but repentance is a step by which even good people, like yourselves, need to have in order to eventually achieve the ultimate goal: Perfection."
Now perfection seems like, and is, a long way, but that is what is so incredibly powerful about the Atonement of Jesus Christ: It is possible to be perfect. As we repent every day, we are getting, step by step, closer to the goal. Repentance is the best possible way to use the gift of the Atonement in our lives.
Elder Caussé also mentioned that "what applies to your friends (the people you're teaching) first applies to yourself." When you repent, you're gaining the wisdom to understand what your friends need in order to progress as well. Same goes with reading scriptures, praying, etc. Your conversion is their conversion. And we're all moving towards the same goal.
I have so much more I would love to say about what he taught, but this is getting a little long, so I'll cut it here.
