Week 8: No Sé

Bienvenidos mi Amigos!

Miembros y Amigos
I don't think I've introduced y'all to some of the cool people in my mission!

-La Familia Bobadillas: These guys are awesome! They're the ones that had me eat that super spicy pepper! They also hosted us on Thanksgiving and they're so funny!

-Felipe: Dude is literally the best! He joined the church just over a month ago and has one of the strongest testimonies I've ever seen! He also works at a restaurant and gives us food like every other day! So there's never a day of bad eating for the Hermanas!

-Leo: Ah man, this guy is such a character! He's been taught by the missionaries for over 2 years, goes to all the church activities, and has a strong testimony. He was almost set on baptism date, but here's the thing: He's a bit of a jokester. We'll sometimes text him, “Hey! Are you coming to English class tonight?” and he'll respond with, “Psh, no.” Only to actually come to English class that night. Also everytime we have a lesson he refuses to speak in Spanish, which is hard because his English is… well, it's better than my Spanish I'll give him that. But yeah, sometimes it's hard to understand what exactly he's saying. Ultimately though, he's so funny! And I hope he'll continue with the Gospel when he goes back to Peru tomorrow!

-Antonio: Apparently Antonio stopped being taught a bit ago, because he says that he's more dedicated to his other church and doesn't care to get baptized. However, he still goes to every activity: Noche de Hogar, Clase de Ingles, Voleibol, and church every Sunday! That's 5 days a week! But anyways, he's awesome and tells the best stories!

Those are just a few of some of the awesome people I have gotten to meet on the mission!

El Día de Acción de Gracias (Thanksgiving)
My first holiday in the field! It was so awesome! I got to talk to my family! And Felipe came by and gave us a WHOLE Thanksgiving feast! Seriously, like an entire turkey, rolls, pumpkin pie, stuffing, and some weird mystery dish that even after eating it I can't tell what it is…

Then for dinner/lunch, the Bobadillas hosted us again! They're food was so good! We ended up staying there for like 6 hours! (3-9pm I think) We got to play fun games, and me and the other Bobadilla daughter explained to the rest of my poor District what K-pop Demon Hunters was! Great times!

Sorpresa! (Surprise)
Now ok, I knew they did this to missionaries, but it still caught me by surprise. On Sunday, I'm chilling in Sacrament Meeting in the back with some of the new converts and amigos, and then they announce who's speaking today. And you know who's name pops up first? Mine! So basically in the span of a minute, I realize I'm giving a talk and walk all the way from the back of the Chapel to the stand.
Honestly, it was painful. I was so nervous that when I started introducing myself I said, “Estoy Hermana Perkins” instead of “Soy Hermana Perkins”, which if y'all know Spanish, that's not correct! Then I kinda just stumbled through bearing my testimony and left that stand as soon as humanly possible.
Ah, the joys of being a Missionary.

Anyways, it was a great week! I'm thankful for all the new people I get to meet in my life! What are you guys thankful for?

Te ama!

Hermana Perkins
