Week 5: Grandma Temple Biker Gang

Buenos Días mi Amigos!

I can't believe I only have one week left until I leave the CCM and go out in the field! I'm so excited!

Las Abuelas
On our recent weekly temple P-day trip, me and my amigas noticed that there were a ton of motorcycles in the temple parking lot. We kept wondering if the local biker gang decided to do some Baptisms or something. Then when we got out of the temple, we saw a group of Elderly ladies hop on the bikes and leave! Some of them were people that we did temple ordinances with! It was crazy! That's gathering Israel with style!

Español
Not gonna lie, over most of my CCM experience, I've kept thinking that my Spanish sucked. So I re-downloaded Duolingo to try and get better, and my self esteem shot up real fast. The lessons have been so easy that I just keep taking the tests that allow me to skip entire units! Although the downside to it is that I don't feel like Duo is helping me at all right now. Muy triste.

I also feel like I'm getting more confident in just speaking the language. Before teaching a mock lesson, I would usually write everything down word for word. This was helpful, but it didn't really help me teach a specific person's needs on the spot. So instead for the past week I would only prepare a specific scripture and a few questions for the practice lessons. It's been helping me a ton more with constructing sentences on the fly.

Engaños (shenanigans)
Here's a list of some random wild stuff that happened this week:
An Elder shaved his eyebrows
Another Elder (definitely not the same one) wrote a 7 minute long sea shanty song and performed it. It's pretty rad.
A door was stolen
There was a parade of people dressed as Roman soldiers for some reason???

Pensamiento Espiritual
In Alma 36:20-21 it says, “And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain! 21 Yea, I say unto you, my son, that there could be nothing so exquisite and so bitter as were my pains. Yea, and again I say unto you, my son, that on the other hand, there can be nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy.”
I testify that no matter how hard the bad times in life can be, the good times will be just as, if not more powerful! Keep a look out on the things that bring you joy in life!

As much as I've loved the CCM, I'm so ready to get out in the field. I really just want to get out there and help people, even if I sound like a Spanish caveman!

If you've read this far, email me a thing in your life that brings you joy!

Hasta Luego!
