Week 3: Thou shalt not steal… unless thou art an Elder
Hola Amigos!
Another amazing week has gone by! So, uh…
El Templo
Every P-day I get to go to the temple! Last P-day we did Baptisms, which was cool, but I was really wanting to see the Celestial Room. Today, (probably right before I sent this email) we got to do an Endowment session, and I finally got the chance! I love seeing how different the Celestial room of every temple is! It reminds me that there are so many different types of perfection! And so many different ways that we can be happy!

To explain the title of this email, let's just say that the Elders in our District are… a little silly. They apparently had a fan in their Casa and it somehow broke (they punched it.) They spent the better part of the next day complaining about how hot their room is now, and then they targeted something: our classroom fan. Us Hermanas overheard them planning to swap their broken fan with the not-broken classroom fan. We were determined to stop them. So we decided to sneak into the classroom before they did. Then we hid the fan behind the piano in the classroom next door.
We had a good laugh as they texted the chat asking what happened to their classroom fan. We thought we got ‘em good. Then we saw Elder Clark come out of the building with a fan sticking out of his backpack.
Bewildered, we checked the classroom where we hid the fan, and it was still there! We checked to make sure it worked and everything!
We came out and the boys had 2 fans now. We think they stole one from another classroom. Don't worry! We convinced them to bring it back… I think.
La Musica
Music makes everything 5 times better! Here's are some of my musical blessings this week:
There is this one awesome piano player from London who could play any song you asked him! (See videos of How to Train Your Dragon and Interstellar in photos)
The other Hermanas in my District love singing like me! And every night we will pick a random song and improvise a 3 part harmony! It's so epic!
Mi Compañera is an awesome piano player! She can play Pirates of the Carribean and so much more!
Some hymns in Spanish are la cabra compared to the English versions! (Check out Jesus es mi Luz and Llamados a Servir in Gospel Library in español)
Español Amigos
I had to say goodbye to some great friends today. We have Sunday meetings with our Branch, which consists of a lot of Native Spanish speaking missionaries. Even though I knew very little English and vice versa, we managed to have some amazing spiritual conversations! Even if it was in some weird Spanglish! It reminds me of something Elder Eyre said in a devotional: If you love God and you love the people, you will help them feel the spirit! Regardless of language!
Pensamiento Espiritual
In a devotional by Elder Holland, he said that missionaries aren't just on their mission to teach a lesson, they're there to help others with their individual needs. He gave a beautiful story about an Elder who gave the perfect scripture that gave comfort to someone they were teaching. It reminds me that I need to have specific scriptures handy for people's individual needs.
So I'm wondering if you guys could help me! If you've made it this far in the email, send me your favorite scripture or a scripture that helped you through a trial in your life!
And if you don't have a scripture, an inspirational quote can work too!
Hasta Luego!

Pictures!!!
From Madre Perkins... this is Kartchner's Phoenix Mission Leaders Brik and Susan Eyre and I have a better picture of them with Naomi than with Kartchner! They were new mission presidents and arrived in Phoenix the week before karchner so they were in quarantine with covid. So instead Scott and Gayla Smith picked karchner up from the airport and they were counselors in the mission presidency. But when we lived in Phoenix they were in our Ward and he was our Stake President. Sister Eyre was the sweetest making cookies for Naomi, and calling her up to meet her after the devotional and making her feel so special and loved!
